OPENING-THANKING
TALKS
Opening
My
dear friends
On
behalf of the Organizing Committee I would like to thank you very much for
your participation in this workshop and to welcome you to Greece
and to Platamonas, the beach of Olympus Gods.
The
organizers of this workshop are the Astrophysical Spectroscopy Teams of
University of Athens and the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade.
Additionally, I have to point out and to remind that the organization of
this scientific meeting in Greece was an idea of my friends Milan and Luka.
The
aim of the workshop is to discuss current problems in investigation of
absorption and emission lines in spectra of stars and quasars. The
participants of the workshop are the members of the two Astrophysical
Spectroscopy Teams, which have been collaborating in investigation of
absorption/emission lines in hot stars and in quasars, aiming to find
similarities and differences between emitting/absorbing regions. There are
several open questions which will be discussed during this workshop, as e.g.
the applicability of GR model to the spectra of quasars with broad
absorption lines, the role of wind in quasars and hot stars - similarity and
differences, etc. Beside these two groups, we have with us excellent experts
who can help us in particular problems.
During
the workshop there are special Sessions in History and Philosophy of
Astronomy and Physical Sciences.
Τhe
scientific group of History and Philosophy of Astronomy and Physical
Sciences at the University of Athens and the corresponding scientific group
at the Observatory of Belgrade have been collaborating since 2000 till
today.
The
contents of these Sessions will be:
1.
A
brief review of our common scientific collaboration.
2.
Programming of specific actions in the subjects of our common research.
3.
An extension of our collaboration with the corresponding groups of other
countries, such as
Romania, Bulgaria, Russia etc.
At
this point we would like to thank the organizing committee and Mrs G.
Mitsiou for the courageous efforts to organize this workshop faraway from Athens
and the sponsors of the workshop that offer us the ability to organize this
meeting.
Finally,
we would like to thank our friends Milan
and Luka for the help, the friendship and the fruitful collaboration during
these ten years.
Good
work, be happy and enjoy the days of the
1st
workshop in astrophysical winds and disks - Similar phenomena in stars and quasars

My
dear friends and colleagues
This
is the last day of the scientific part of the 1st workshop in astrophysical
winds and disks - Similar phenomena
in stars and quasars. We
would like to thank you very much for your participation in this workshop.
The
little piece of Athens’ olive, taken from the park of the Accademy of Plato that we offer you,
is only a small souvenir that represents the friendship among the members
and the collaborators of our scientific teams.
As
we know the organizers of this workshop are the Astrophysical Spectroscopy
Teams of University of Athens and the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade.
Additionally I would like to remind that the organization of this scientific
meeting in
Greece
was an idea of my friends
Milan
and Luka.
As
this is the first workshop that we organize, we know that probably there
were some mistakes in the social and the scientific part of the workshop. In
order to correct these mistakes and improve the “2ndworkshop
in astrophysical winds and disks”
that will take place after about two years, we need your comments, new ideas
and propositions.
We
should not forget to thank the organizing committee and Ms G. Mitsiou for
the courageous efforts to organize this workshop faraway from Athens
and the sponsors of the workshop that offer us the ability to organize this
meeting.
Finally,
we would like to thank our friends Milan
and Luka for the help, the friendship and the fruitful collaboration during
these ten years.
My
dear friends
Milan
and Luka, on
behalf of our scientific team, allow
me to offer you a
little present as an indication of our fillings and a warm thank you of your
help. |
Welcoming
from Thouli Sidiropoulou (organizer of the excursion)
Dear
participants of the 1st workshop in Astrophysical Winds and
Disks.
It’s
my delight to welcome you on behalf of the Culture and Development Network
of the Ecological Democracy, in Macedonia, the Hellenic region that gave birth to Aristotle, Filippos and Alexander
the Great.
Our
Union, besides everything else, has as a mission the advance of collaboration of
the Nations through education, science, culture, communication and the
information and participation in the doings of the Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization of the United Nations.
These
actions intend to forward and give a new push to education and to the spread
of literacy, as to conserve, increase and save knowledge.
Based
on these doings of ours, with great joy, we guided you in Vergina the sacred
city of Macedonians, where the tomb of Filippos, the father of Alexander the
Great, is, and the academy of Aristotle, where after the 4th century B.C.,
as the ancient writers quote, Aristotle taught the classic Hellenic thought
and the ideals of the Platonian Philosophy to the son of Filippos II, King
of Macedonia, Alexander and to all the aristocrats of the Macedonian yard.
As
I know, today is the last day of the workshop and as it is used in Greece, with this “Hellenic Symposium”, on behalf of my association I would
like to wish you a nice trip and to wish you to meet again in the 2nd
Workshop in Astrophysical Winds and Disks.
Thank
you for visiting us and have a nice trip.
